DURO-LAST FLAT ROOFS
Duro-Last flat roofs are a great option for commercial buildings with roof slopes no greater than 2/12. The first number refers to how many inches the roof travels upward for every 12 horizontal inches. This means that a roof with a 2/12 pitch would rise two inches for every horizontal foot.
BENEFITS OF DURO-LAST ROOFS
Duro-Last flat roofs offer many benefits to commercial buildings, including:
DURO-LAST FLAT ROOF VS. SHINGLES
Many business owners are familiar and comfortable with shingle roofs, and their familiarity and comfort with the product may lead them to choosing a shingle roof over a Duro-Last roof for their flat-roofed commercial building. Unfortunately, shingle roofs do not perform well when installed on roofs with pitches lower than 4/12.
SHINGLES ON A FLAT ROOF
Special tools and installation procedures must be adhered to when installing shingles on a roof with less than a 4/12 pitch, and some local building codes won't allow contractors to install shingles on flat roofs.
Shingles are designed so that water drains downward into the gutters. When shingles are installed on a flat roof or low-pitched roof, water can become trapped under the shingles. Since the roof is not pitched, the water will sit and puddle, which will eventually cause a degradation of the roofing system and leaks.
Low-sloped and flat roofs have an average lifespan of seven years, depending on installation and maintenance schedules. When shingles are installed on a flat roof, business owners can expect their roofs to start leaking prior to seven years.
DURO-LAST FLAT ROOFING SYSTEMS
Duro-Last is designed to protect flat roofs. The prefabricated PVC sheets can be manufactured in sizes up to 2,500 square feet. This means less seams on your flat roof and better protection against the elements. Fasteners and flashings are also prefabricated to eliminate unnecessary labor and the potential for damage to your new roof. Duro-Last roofs are also designed to protect flat roofs by shedding water and protecting your roof against high-winds, fire, and punctures.
Some advantages of prefabrication are:
When you choose a Duro-Last roof for your commercial building, you are choosing a product that was specifically designed for flat roofs.
